# Cost Optimisation Analyst
## About the Role
The Cost Optimisation Analyst will report to the Cost Optimisation Manager and support efforts to improve financial accountability across cloud operations. The role focuses on analysing, monitoring, and optimising cloud costs so the business can make data-driven decisions, control spend, and improve efficiency.
This position works closely with finance, IT, engineering, and product teams to build cost awareness and support cross-functional optimisation initiatives. A key part of the role is improving visibility into AI-related spend by developing cost models at the token, model, and agent levels.
## Key Responsibilities
– Track cloud usage and spend across multiple platforms, and produce regular reports and dashboards to highlight trends and anomalies.
– Implement and enforce tagging standards to improve cost allocation and support chargeback and showback.
– Support cloud budgeting and forecasting using historical data and growth assumptions, and review actual spend against forecasts.
– Analyse usage patterns to identify waste, underused resources, and over-provisioned assets, then recommend and track optimisation actions such as rightsizing and reserved instances.
– Maintain governance standards for cloud spend, tagging, and resource lifecycle management, while supporting audits and compliance needs.
– Manage cloud cost management tools, automate routine reporting and alerts, and improve cost-control processes.
– Work with engineering, product, finance, and IT teams to increase cost awareness and support optimisation initiatives.
– Build and operationalise AI cost models to improve transparency at the token, model, and agent levels.
## Required Skills
– Experience with cloud platforms and AI/ML services, including Azure OpenAI, Bedrock, and emerging AI/ML platforms.
– Background in data engineering and/or analytics.
– Strong understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost management.
– Process improvement mindset with the ability to drive automation and efficiency.
– Advanced Excel skills.
– Experience working in a multinational, matrix organisation with multiple legal and group entities.
– Experience handling complex data sets with strong attention to detail.
– Expert-level organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
– Strong decision-making ability.
– Ability to work independently, remain self-motivated, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
– Understanding of distributed systems and API-based consumption models.
