# Assistant Manager – Costing

## About the Role
This role sits within the Finance & Accounts function of a large, multi-site organization headquartered in Bengaluru, with a workforce of 4,500+ employees. It is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of costing, inventory control, and margin reporting across multiple sites.
The position works closely with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to strengthen financial discipline, improve cost visibility, and support better business decisions. It plays a key part in ensuring COGS accuracy, GRN/GI discipline, budget adherence, and cost governance.
The scope also includes support for the Annual Operating Plan, site-level margin analysis, and process improvement initiatives. Success in the role is measured by stronger controls, better reporting quality, and improved efficiency and profitability.
## Key Responsibilities
– Own inventory control across sites, including physical stock counts, variance reconciliation, and closure of corrective actions through ERP-based controls.
– Monitor monthly COGS and key variance drivers, and translate cost movements into clear management reports.
– Track GRN and GI transactions daily, identify delays or gaps, and escalate control issues to improve accuracy and compliance.
– Review business cases, rate proposals, and pricing models to validate assumptions and assess margin impact.
– Lead Annual Operating Plan preparation and cost projections, and monitor budgets and approved limits.
– Validate purchase orders raised by Operations and Supply Chain against budgets and approvals.
– Prepare site-wise margin and variance analysis, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
– Conduct site visits and process audits, document findings, and drive improvements in inventory control, reporting quality, and automation.
## Required Skills
– CA, CMA, CWA, or semi-qualified professional background.
– 4–6 years of experience in costing, inventory management, and financial analysis.
– Strong capability in costing, variance analysis, and financial control.
– Advanced SAP skills for costing, inventory, and reporting workflows.
– Strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis and reconciliation.
– Working knowledge of Power BI for dashboards and performance reporting.
– Strong audit, reconciliation, and issue-resolution skills.
– Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
– Detail orientation, analytical thinking, and discipline in managing reconciliations, budgets, and margin analysis.
– Confidence working across teams and locations, with the ability to influence outcomes through facts, structure, and persistence.
## Preferred Skills
– Exposure to multi-site, manufacturing, or service environments where inventory movement and cost ownership are important.
– Experience driving automation or process improvement in finance or costing functions.
– Hands-on involvement in site audits, governance checks, or process standardization initiatives.
