# Senior FinOps Analyst

## About the Role

The Senior FinOps Analyst will govern cloud financial performance, improve demand transparency, and drive cloud cost optimisation across the organisation. The role operates across finance, technology, and business operations to ensure cloud investments are accountable and aligned with business priorities.

You will work closely with Finance, engineering leads, operations stakeholders, and internal SCS teams. The position combines cloud cost management, demand and capacity planning, executive reporting, and cross-functional governance.

During the first six months, you will establish full visibility of cloud spend, deliver the first monthly FinOps report, implement a demand intake and prioritisation process, lead a meaningful optimisation initiative, and become the primary point of contact for cloud cost transparency and FinOps governance.

## Key Responsibilities

– Lead cloud financial governance across business units, including cost visibility, optimisation, forecasting, anomaly detection, and spend accountability.
– Maintain and enforce FinOps policies, standards, and controls.
– Identify overspend, waste, and cost inefficiencies, and coordinate remediation with engineering and operations teams.
– Manage the demand intake and prioritisation process, ensuring requests are assessed and tracked within agreed SLAs.
– Align capacity planning with business demand and strategic priorities.
– Provide data-driven forecasts to support resource allocation and avoid under- or over-provisioning.
– Produce monthly reports covering cloud spend, budget variance, forecast accuracy, and optimisation progress.
– Build dashboards and reporting cadences that provide visibility into financial and demand performance.
– Translate financial and operational data into executive-level insights and recommendations.
– Support quarterly transformation reviews and board-level reporting.
– Act as the primary liaison between the CSO, Finance, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
– Facilitate FinOps governance meetings and demand reviews, tracking actions and accountability.
– Contribute to transformation and continuous improvement initiatives within the CSO.

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
– 4–7 years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, or a related function in a technology or cloud-native environment.
– Demonstrated experience in cloud cost optimisation and budget adherence.
– Experience with demand management, resource planning, operational governance, and executive reporting.
– Experience using FinOps and cloud cost management tools.
– Basic understanding of Generative AI and large language models (LLMs).
– Practical experience using AI-powered tools for reporting, data analysis, forecasting, anomaly detection, budget optimisation, or executive reporting.
– Awareness of responsible AI practices.
– Strong analytical, organisational, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
– Ability to take ownership, act decisively, and remain calm under pressure.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Govern cloud spend visibility, accountability, and financial controls.
– Track and manage budget variance, forecast accuracy, and cloud cost performance.
– Identify and remediate cloud waste, overspend, and inefficiencies.
– Deliver annual cost optimisation of 10–15% or more.
– Maintain variance of no more than ±5% from approved budgets.
– Establish demand intake, prioritisation, and tracking processes.
– Assess at least 95% of demand items and reach prioritisation decisions within 5–10 business days.
– Support capacity forecasting and resource allocation decisions.
– Produce monthly FinOps reporting and executive insights.
– Manage dashboards and reporting cadences for cloud financial and demand performance.
