# Platform Engineering Lead — Zoop
**Location:** Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad
**Employment Type:** Full-time
**Seniority:** Mid-Senior level
**Experience:** 6+ years
## About the Role
Zoop is looking for a hands-on Platform Engineering Lead to help the company move from strong DevOps foundations to a more mature platform-led operating model as it scales. The role exists to improve engineering speed, reliability, security, and cost discipline at the platform level.
You will own the platform roadmap and work across architecture and implementation, not just review work. The role is designed to support product engineering teams by reducing operational friction, standardizing platform capabilities, and creating guardrails that make delivery faster and safer.
This position partners closely with engineering teams and product engineering stakeholders, while also mentoring engineers and helping teams adapt to change. Success means cloud cost, security, and reliability are visible and manageable, CI/CD is production-ready, and platform decisions reduce complexity rather than add it.
## Key Responsibilities
– Own platform and cloud architecture across GCP and AWS.
– Design reusable platform patterns instead of one-off infrastructure solutions.
– Build and evolve the Internal Developer Platform (IDP), including:
– Self-service environments
– Golden paths / paved roads
– Standardized templates and guardrails
– Lead Kubernetes and cloud-native adoption at scale.
– Automate infrastructure with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
– Establish strong CI/CD practices with quality gates and production-readiness checks.
– Drive testing, automation, and safer deployment practices.
– Define and track golden signals, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response processes.
– Reduce operational toil and improve developer productivity.
– Make observability a first-class part of infrastructure using cost-efficient systems.
– Design observability so multiple teams can integrate it into their applications.
– Build security-by-default into infrastructure and pipelines.
– Lead continuous readiness for DPDP Act (India), ISO 27001:2022, and SOC 2 Type II.
– Implement zero-trust principles, least-privilege access, and data isolation.
– Establish FinOps practices with budgets, alerts, and optimization routines.
– Support build-vs-buy decisions using clear ROI thinking.
– Enable secure and scalable ML/MLOps foundations.
– Define guardrails for AI workloads and sensitive data handling.
– Work with engineering teams to align infrastructure and product strategy.
– Mentor engineers and guide teams through change.
## Required Skills
– 6+ years of experience, including 6–8+ years building and running production infrastructure.
– Experience scaling platforms in high-growth or regulated companies.
– Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and the cloud-native ecosystem.
– Experience with service mesh and policy engines.
– Experience with GCP, AWS, and Azure.
– Hands-on experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
– Solid understanding of SDLC and CI/CD systems, including Jenkins or GitOps.
– Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and New Relic.
– Ability to read and contribute to systems written in Go, Python, or Node.js.
– Practical experience delivering ISO 27001 and SOC 2 controls.
– Strong understanding of data protection, privacy, and access control.
– Bias for action and strong judgment.
– Analytical, cost-aware, and reliability-focused mindset.
– Collaborative, calm under pressure, and open to feedback.
– Comfortable saying no when needed and explaining why.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience in fintech, identity, or regulated domains.
– Experience building internal developer platforms or shared infrastructure tooling.
– Contributions to open-source projects.
