## About the Role
This is a senior Data & FinOps Engineer role focused on a high-impact Google Cloud Platform (GCP) engagement. The work sits at the intersection of data engineering and cloud financial operations, with responsibility for audit log pipelines, immutable storage for defensible retention, cost attribution infrastructure, and real-time cloud spend visibility.
The role is designed to strengthen the observability and governance layer of a complex multi-tenant platform. You will build systems that support compliance, traceability, and cost efficiency, while partnering closely with data, product, and engineering stakeholders.
This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in Latin America (LATAM). Candidates must be willing to maintain at least a 6-hour overlap with core business hours, primarily aligned with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones. This is an active opening on a current client project. Applications are accepted until July 12, 2026, and candidates can expect feedback by July 20, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets, including compliant schema design, immutable retention configuration, and access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines that route MCP inputs and outputs into structured, queryable audit stores.
– Engineer Cloud Billing export pipelines and create Looker Studio dashboards for spend visibility, trend analysis, and budget forecasting.
– Implement FinOps tagging and labeling strategies across GCP resources to support cost attribution by tenant, project, and user.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including notification and escalation setup.
– Build metadata pipeline workflows that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention, and lifecycle policies.
– Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with strong data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Collaborate with data, product, and engineering teams to deliver infrastructure that supports both operational and compliance requirements.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Experience building production data pipelines, with specialization in cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery, including audit dataset design, compliance-oriented schema modeling, and Object Lock/immutability configuration.
– Experience processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines, including log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Proven experience implementing Cloud Billing exports, FinOps tagging/labeling taxonomies, and Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring, including alert policies, notification channels, and escalation thresholds.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems, including lifecycle policy enforcement and retention schedule automation.
– Strong proficiency in Python.
– Advanced SQL skills for large-scale querying in BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Familiarity with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Exposure to Looker for more advanced BI and cost reporting.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
