🚀 About the Role
Virtual Worlds Association is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cloud FinOps Analyst / Cost Optimization Engineer / Billing Systems Specialist to manage and optimize cloud spending across our infrastructure. This role bridges finance, engineering, and operations to ensure cost efficiency, transparency, and scalability in a fast-growing digital environment.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud spending across platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Implement cost allocation models, tagging strategies, and usage tracking
Identify cost-saving opportunities (rightsizing, reserved instances, spot usage, etc.)
Build dashboards and reports for cloud financial visibility and forecasting
Collaborate with engineering teams to promote cost-aware architecture decisions
Manage billing systems, invoices, and cost reconciliation processes
Establish FinOps best practices and governance frameworks
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for cloud operations
💡 Requirements
Experience in cloud cost management, FinOps, or infrastructure engineering
Strong understanding of cloud pricing models (compute, storage, networking)
Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure billing and cost management tools
Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, or BI tools)
Knowledge of tagging strategies, cost allocation, and budgeting frameworks
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Ability to work cross-functionally with finance and engineering teams
🌟 Nice to Have
FinOps certifications or relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with FinOps tools (CloudHealth, Cloudability, Kubecost, etc.)
Familiarity with Kubernetes cost optimization
Background in finance, accounting, or business analytics
Experience in high-growth or startup environments
