## About the Role
The VP Technology – Finance serves as the senior finance partner to the global technology organization based in Atlanta, GA, in a hybrid setup. This role works closely with the CFO, CIO, and IT leadership to align technology investments with business strategy.
The position owns financial planning, budgeting, capital allocation, and investment governance across the technology portfolio. It also helps strengthen financial transparency, improve controls, and ensure technology spend is tied to measurable business outcomes.
In addition, the role leads cloud financial management and broader IT finance reporting, while supporting key decisions across digital transformation, vendor management, and capital investment. It partners with controllership, accounting, procurement, and legal teams on financial treatment, governance, and commercial risk.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plan for the global IT function.
– Partner with the CIO and IT leadership to align spending with strategic priorities.
– Analyze run-rate, project, labor, infrastructure, software, and vendor costs.
– Provide variance analysis and actionable insights on operating and capital expenditures.
– Serve as the primary finance partner to the CIO and senior IT leaders.
– Translate technology initiatives into financial impacts, risk, and expected returns.
– Support prioritization of projects based on business value, affordability, and strategic fit.
– Provide decision support for trade-offs across technology investments.
– Lead cloud financial strategy, including cost optimization and transparency.
– Evaluate CapEx vs. OpEx trade-offs for technology investments.
– Drive cost-efficient cloud economics aligned with enterprise capital allocation priorities.
– Deliver insights on cloud spend, unit economics, and ROI.
– Review and challenge business cases for major IT initiatives, digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and system implementations.
– Improve financial governance around project funding, benefits tracking, and post-implementation reviews.
– Monitor project financial performance, including budget-to-actuals and expected ROI.
– Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize the IT cost structure.
– Evaluate build vs. buy vs. outsource options.
– Review spend across applications, software licenses, infrastructure, cloud, telecom, contractors, and managed services.
– Support benchmarking and cost transparency initiatives.
– Drive accountability for spend management and productivity improvements across IT.
– Oversee the financial treatment of IT investments, including capitalization of software development and implementation costs where applicable.
– Partner with controllership and accounting teams to support policies and internal controls.
– Monitor capex budgets and depreciation/amortization impacts.
– Support audit and documentation requirements related to IT financial activity.
– Provide financial support for major IT vendor negotiations, renewals, and contract reviews.
– Evaluate pricing structures, consumption trends, and total cost of ownership.
– Partner with procurement and legal on financial risk and commercial terms.
– Monitor commitments, savings realization, and budget impacts from third-party agreements.
– Lead monthly and quarterly IT financial reporting for executive leadership.
– Develop dashboards and KPIs covering spend, project delivery, capital usage, productivity, and value realization.
– Summarize financial risks, opportunities, and key decisions for executive audiences.
– Support board and audit committee reporting on technology finance matters as needed.
– Improve IT finance processes, tools, governance, and reporting discipline.
– Support finance transformation initiatives that improve technology spend management and transparency.
– Standardize planning assumptions, cost allocations, and project tracking methods.
– Promote accountability, business partnership, and continuous improvement.

## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Technology/Engineering.
– 15+ years of progressive finance and/or technology experience.
– 5+ years in a senior leadership role at VP/Head level or equivalent.
– 5–10+ years supporting technology, IT, or large enterprise cost functions.
– Experience in a public company and controls environment.
– Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
– Strong people management, project management, and organizational skills.
– Executive presence and the ability to work across all levels of the organization and with vendors.
– Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
