# Senior SRE FinOps Engineer — Remote Portugal

## About the Role

This role owns cloud cost optimisation across a large-scale Google Cloud environment. It is a senior engineering position focused on improving how cloud spend is managed, measured, and governed.

You will work closely with Engineering and Finance leadership to build FinOps practices from the ground up and help engineering teams make cost-aware decisions without reducing reliability or performance. The role combines SRE, platform engineering, automation, and cloud financial management.

The work has direct business impact, supporting cloud infrastructure used by millions of users. It is designed for someone who wants real ownership over cloud strategy, not just operational support.

## Key Responsibilities

– Lead cloud cost optimisation across GCP infrastructure.
– Build cost and usage dashboards using BigQuery, Billing exports, Looker, and Tableau.
– Set up budgets, alerts, and governance controls across GCP projects.
– Optimise workloads running on GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, compute, and storage.
– Automate cloud governance using Python and cloud-native tooling.

## Required Skills

– Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
– Proven experience reducing cloud costs in large-scale environments.
– Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
– Strong Python scripting and automation skills.
– Experience with Kubernetes.
– Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
