Job Profile Summary
The Senior FinOps Specialist will support the Data Platform Management team by driving financial governance, cost optimisation, and process standardisation across global data platforms. This role ensures accurate cost reporting, defines and implements financial processes, and collaborates with stakeholders to enable efficient and transparent financial operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Governance & Reporting
Develop and maintain cost reporting frameworks for cloud and on-prem platforms.
Monitor platform spend, identify variances, and provide actionable insights.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership review.
Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.
Support annual budgeting and forecasting cycles for data platform operations.
Track vendor costs and optimise contract utilisation.
Process Design & Standardisation
Design and implement financial governance processes aligned with ITIL and organisational standards.
Document workflows for budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation.
Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in financial workflows.
Support adoption of tools for cost visibility and reporting (e.g., Spotfire dashboards, cloud cost-management tools).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Finance, Procurement, Platform Engineering, Architecture, and other stakeholders to embed FinOps practices.
Collaborate with teams to improve financial transparency and accountability.
Training & Stakeholder Support
Provide training and guidance on cost optimisation best practices.
Act as a liaison for financial queries related to data platform services.
Knowledge & Skills
Financial analysis and reporting
ITIL-aligned financial governance
Cloud and on-prem cost structures
Budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation
Familiarity with cloud cost-management tools and reporting platforms
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Required Experience
Experience in cloud economics (Azure and AWS)
Experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Cloudera
Experience designing financial processes within an IT environment
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
Education
Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Compensation
The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is 155 600,00 zÅ‚ – 289 200,00 zÅ‚. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
