Synopsis of the role
A professional expertise in FP&A – IT Budget who manages the financial planning, forecasting, and analysis of technology expenditures, partnering with IT leadership to optimize software, hardware, and services spend. and who has managed cloud costs for an organization. He/She will work as part of a FP&A team to implement and maintain FinOps forecast, Capex & Opex budget and maintain practices and methodologies, with a primary focus on analyzing cloud / system performance and spending data to identify areas for cost optimization in line with monthly budget / forecast.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain complex financial models to project IT spend. This includes shifting from traditional CapEx (on-premise hardware) to OpEx (Cloud) models
Lead the annual IT budgeting process. Conduct monthly, quarterly & annual reviews to explain variances between actual spend v/s forecast and budget, specifically focusing on project delays or unexpected usage spikes
Collaborate with Procurement to review IT vendor contracts, ensuring financial terms align with the long-term budget
Manage monthly / quarterly / annual financial forecasting processes (month end closing, quarterly forecast, annual budget)
Responsible for functional P&L analysis and the relevant B/S accounts
Monitoring current systems including cloud and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities
Developing and implementing strategies to optimize costs
Collaborating with finance, operations, and technology teams to drive cost optimization initiatives
Analyzing cloud usage patterns and trends to identify areas for optimization
Developing and maintaining financial models to forecast and track cloud costs on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Working with cloud service providers to negotiate pricing and contracts
Creating reports and dashboards to track and communicate cost spend efforts to stakeholders
What Experience You Need
Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
Experience with SQL, Python, and other data analysis tools is important.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as FinOps analysts need to work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to achieve cost optimization goals.
Experience implementing and maintaining FinOps practices and methodologies is also important, including knowledge of cost optimization frameworks such as AWS or On Prem systems.
Experience using FinOps tools and platforms.
Familiarity with industry regulations, as they may impact cloud usage and cost optimization strategies.
Work Experience of 8-12 Years in Tech Budget in FP&A
