## About the Role
Manager, IT Financial Operations is responsible for the financial oversight and governance of the firm’s technology portfolio within the Information Technology organization. The role turns financial direction into repeatable processes that support budgeting, forecasting, investment planning, and reporting.
This position acts as a key financial partner to IT leadership, helping validate investment assumptions, track portfolio performance, and support decisions about technology priorities. It also strengthens financial controls, improves workflow consistency, and supports better visibility into technology spending.
The role works closely with IT leadership, Vendor Management, Procurement, and Firm Finance. It also includes mentoring analysts and helping maintain disciplined financial governance across projects and initiatives.
## Key Responsibilities
– Manage portfolio financial models, planning trackers, and budget frameworks for the IT organization.
– Track actual spend against budget and forecast, and prepare variance analysis with key drivers, risks, and trends.
– Support reforecasting cycles by validating assumptions and protecting forecast integrity.
– Oversee project cost estimates across labor, infrastructure, software licensing, and vendor services.
– Review business case financial models and confirm alignment with governance standards.
– Maintain accurate portfolio spend tracking and financial visibility across projects and initiatives.
– Reconcile financial data, maintain audit-ready documentation, and produce recurring reports and executive summaries.
– Support vendor proposal review, consumption tracking, and financial analysis of renewals or pricing changes.
– Ensure project financials follow intake and governance workflows, and flag risks or inconsistencies.
– Lead FinOps execution, including cloud spend monitoring and broader financial transparency efforts.
– Improve financial templates, trackers, and governance tools.
– Mentor analysts and support IT stakeholders in applying financial governance standards.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– 7–9 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or IT financial operations.
– Strong understanding of IT cost drivers, including infrastructure, cloud consumption, software licensing, labor, and project-based investments.
– Experience managing budgeting and reforecasting cycles in technology organizations or IT portfolios.
– Experience supporting project financial governance, business case evaluation, and structured project review processes.
– Strong financial modeling skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
– Experience with financial systems and procure-to-pay platforms such as Coupa, with familiarity using Microsoft Power BI.
– Experience partnering with Finance, Procurement, and Vendor Management on proposals, contract financials, and spend tracking.
– Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining financial discipline and data accuracy.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Experience mentoring or supervising analysts and supporting professional development.

– Review project and vendor-related cost inputs, including consumption against forecasts.
– Produce recurring reporting and executive summaries for leadership.

## Compensation
– Chicago base salary range: **$162,000–$177,000**
