You will partner with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to translate usage data into clear financial insight and stronger governance. The role also extends FinOps practices into AI and machine learning workloads by tracking token and compute consumption, supporting showback, and identifying optimization opportunities.
## Key Responsibilities
– Monitor cloud and AI/ML spend, highlighting trends, anomalies, and cost optimization opportunities.
– Maintain tagging and cost allocation standards across Project, Environment, Workload, Team, and Cost Center dimensions.
– Produce recurring cost reports and dashboards for engineering, finance, and business stakeholders.
– Track metrics such as cost per token, cost per inference, and resource utilization efficiency.
– Review billing and usage data to identify discrepancies, untagged resources, and misallocations.
– Support optimization efforts, including rightsizing, commitment tracking, reserved capacity, and idle resource cleanup.
– Collaborate with IT and platform teams to validate allocations and follow up on optimization actions.
– Maintain FinOps tooling, dashboards, runbooks, and reporting accuracy.
– Prepare cost and usage inputs for quarterly reviews and governance forums.
– Track licensing terms, commitment schedules, and contract renewals.
– Set up alerts for unusual usage spikes, including GPU hours, API calls, and token consumption.
– Document FinOps processes and contribute to reporting, automation, and governance improvements.
## Required Skills
– 6–8 years of experience in financial analysis, cloud operations, IT finance, or a related analytical role.
– Experience working with AI cost and usage data, including Anthropic or OpenAI, and billing/cost management tools.
– Familiarity with tagging, showback, and chargeback concepts.
– Strong analytical ability to interpret usage and billing data and turn it into actionable insight.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
– Ability to collaborate across IT, Finance, and business teams.
– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or progress toward it.
– Experience reporting on AI/ML or large language model workload costs, including token consumption, GPU utilization, or inference costs.
– Familiarity with CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or Google Cloud Billing.
– Experience supporting Enterprise PMO or IT portfolio management reporting.
– Basic scripting or automation experience, such as Python.
– Exposure to cloud governance, budget monitoring, or anomaly detection practices.
