# FinOps & Technology Cost Manager
## About the Role
This senior individual contributor role owns visibility, control, and optimisation across cloud, SaaS, AI, and wider technology spend. You will help define how technology investment is tracked, governed, and reported so the organisation can make better decisions about where money is being used.
Working across Technology, Finance, and Contract Management, you will strengthen forecasting, budget management, and reporting while identifying risks, trends, and opportunities to reduce waste. The role also supports cost-aware engineering practices and better financial discipline without affecting delivery.

## Key Responsibilities
– Own reporting, forecasting, and budget tracking across cloud, SaaS, AI, and wider technology spend.
– Improve cost efficiency through rightsizing, commitment management, and waste reduction.
– Maintain accurate forecasts, monitor variances, and agree corrective actions.
– Build dashboards and reporting for leadership decision-making.
– Define and maintain standards for cost allocation, tagging, ownership, and governance.
– Partner with Technology, Finance, and Contract Management to strengthen cost control.
– Lead regular spend reviews to identify risks, trends, anomalies, and optimisation opportunities.
– Manage SaaS licensing and vendor spend, including utilisation, renewals, and contract value.
– Track and optimise AI platform costs, including licences, APIs, and token usage.
– Promote cost-aware engineering practices that improve efficiency without impacting delivery.
## Required Skills
– Experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, technology finance, or a similar discipline.
– A track record of improving spend visibility, forecasting accuracy, cost allocation, and financial control.
– Strong analytical skills, including trend analysis, variance analysis, forecasting, and KPI tracking.
– Experience defining and embedding standards for cost allocation, tagging, ownership, and reporting.
– Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
– Cross-functional experience working with Technology, Finance, and Commercial or Contract Management teams.
– Confidence influencing decisions, challenging inefficiencies, and driving cost accountability.
– Comfort working in a scaling or evolving environment where processes and controls are still developing.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or equivalent hands-on FinOps experience.
– Experience with cloud cost management, billing data, budgeting, and reporting tools.
– Exposure to SaaS licensing, utilisation tracking, renewals, and vendor spend management.
– Experience managing AI platform costs, including licences, APIs, and token consumption.
