Location: London, Leeds, or Manchester (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview
We are looking for a FinOps Specialist to drive cloud efficiency and cost optimization within high-stakes, complex data environments. You will play a critical role in advising a business unit of over 300 people, helping our government, national security, and commercial clients unlock the full value of AWS as they migrate to the cloud.
This position bridges the gap between high-level strategy and technical execution. You will influence architectural decisions, advise on AWS cost models, and champion FinOps best practices across both internal engineering teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Advisory:
Guide clients through the adoption of FinOps practices to maximize the value of their cloud investments.
Technical Execution:
Collaborate with product architects and engineering teams to ensure solutions are built with cost-efficiency and scalability in mind from the outset.
Offering Development:
Develop and market FinOps strategies, creating compelling value propositions for our customers.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Influence technical and non-technical senior stakeholders to align cloud efficiency with broader business objectives.
Data Analysis:
Build robust business cases for cloud optimization initiatives based on clear data and analysis.
Required Experience
FinOps Proficiency:
Proven track record of applying FinOps principles to drive efficiency in large-scale environments.
AWS Expertise:
Deep understanding of AWS technologies, pricing models, and cost management tooling.
Architecture & Strategy:
Experience advising on cloud architecture to embed cost-consciousness without sacrificing performance.
Communication:
Excellent ability to influence diverse audiences, from technical engineers to executive leadership.
Business Acumen:
Ability to create data-driven business cases for optimization.
Domain Knowledge:
Familiarity with government or highly regulated environments is desirable but not essential.
Note:
This role requires Security Clearance. If you do not currently hold clearance, you must be eligible and willing to undergo the vetting process.
We prioritize a culture of support, balance, and growth:
Flexible Working:
We offer flexible and part-time working options to support your work-life balance.
Collaborative Environment:
As our customers operate in sensitive domains, we work primarily in the office; we expect staff to be on-site at least 3 days per week.
Time Off:
25 days of annual leave, with the option to buy, sell, or carry over days.
Benefits Package:
Includes a competitive pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, a cycle-to-work scheme, and various lifestyle perks.
Career Development:
You will be paired with a dedicated Career Manager to guide your professional development and internal growth.
Incentives:
Participation in the company bonus scheme.
Inclusivity:
Access to various diversity and support groups, ranging from mental health and wellbeing to gender diversity.
