## About the Role
ZoomInfo is seeking a FinOps Engineer to join its centralized FinOps team within the Infrastructure Engineering group. The role supports an enterprise-scale, multi-cloud environment and is focused on improving financial accountability across core GCP and AWS infrastructure, as well as third-party technology spend.
This position plays a key part in identifying, building, and automating cost-saving opportunities across cloud and AI workloads. It works closely with engineering teams to improve cloud architecture efficiency, strengthen tagging and allocation practices, and implement automated controls that help keep environments cost-effective by default.
The role also supports financial visibility across teams and products through reporting, forecasting, and unit-economics analysis. In addition, it helps govern SaaS and tech-stack spend by partnering with engineering to evaluate, right-size, and consolidate vendor costs.
## Key Responsibilities
– Drive cost optimization across GCP and AWS by identifying and implementing savings opportunities across compute, storage, networking, and data services.
– Track AI usage and costs across multiple providers, including Anthropic and OpenAI.
– Build and automate FinOps guardrails such as budget alerts, anomaly detection, and rightsizing recommendations.
– Design and maintain tagging and allocation frameworks to support cost attribution, showback/chargeback, budgeting, forecasting, and unit-economics reporting.
– Manage commitment-based discounts, including Committed Use Discounts, Savings Plans, and Reserved Instances.
– Partner with engineering teams to review and re-architect workloads for better cost efficiency.
– Develop dashboards, reports, and forecasts that provide visibility into spend trends, drivers, and optimization ROI.
– Govern third-party SaaS and technology spend by evaluating, right-sizing, and consolidating vendor costs.
– Promote FinOps standards, best practices, and self-service tooling across the organization.
## Required Skills
– 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or FinOps, with a strong focus on cost optimization and governance.
– Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably GCP or AWS.
– Experience working in a multi-cloud environment is strongly preferred.
– Strong understanding of cloud architecture, services, and pricing models across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
– Proven experience building and managing automated FinOps alerting, including anomaly detection and budget/forecast thresholds.
– Familiarity with tracking AI model usage and spend across multiple LLM providers.
– Knowledge of token-based pricing, provider usage and billing APIs, and AI cost attribution to teams or products.
– Proficiency with cloud cost-management tools such as GCP Billing/BigQuery billing exports, AWS Cost Explorer/CUR, CloudHealth, or similar platforms.
– Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language, with Python preferred.
– Experience building dashboards and reports in Looker, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar tools.
– Clear communication skills and the ability to influence engineering and finance stakeholders without direct authority.
– Financial and engineering fluency, with the ability to translate technical decisions into financial impact and financial goals into technical action.
– Analytical rigor and comfort working with large datasets to surface insights and quantify opportunities.
– Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
– A bias for automation and scalable solutions.
– Ability to present complex cost data and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Relevant cloud certifications.
