# FinOps Engineer
## About the Role
As a FinOps Engineer, you will own cloud and SaaS cost visibility, optimization, and governance across a multi-cloud AWS and GCP environment. You will work closely with DevOps, Engineering, and Finance teams to improve spend transparency, support efficient scaling, and help the business stay within budget targets while maintaining performance.
The role is focused on building practical cost controls and reporting that support rapid growth. Your work will directly influence infrastructure decisions, spending discipline, and the identification of cost-saving opportunities across cloud and SaaS services.
## Key Responsibilities
– Build and maintain cost tracking dashboards across AWS, GCP, and SaaS platforms.
– Define and implement cost allocation tagging standards for team-level visibility.
– Set up real-time alerts for unusual spend increases.
– Partner with engineering teams to right-size infrastructure and reduce unused capacity.
– Optimize reserved instances and savings plans.
– Identify and prioritize savings opportunities across cloud and SaaS environments.
– Recommend architecture patterns that balance performance, scalability, and cost.
– Establish cloud budget guardrails.
## Required Skills
– 3–4 years of experience in cloud financial management with AWS or Azure.
– Hands-on experience with FinOps tools, including CloudHealth, CloudZero, AWS Cost Explorer, and GCP Billing.
– Strong understanding of Kubernetes, serverless, and event-driven architectures.
– Proven experience leading cost optimization initiatives in large-scale cloud environments.
– Strong data analysis skills using SQL, Python, or similar tools for cost reporting.
## Preferred Skills
– BSc in finance or an engineering field.

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Improve cloud and SaaS spend visibility through dashboards and alerting.

– Drive rightsizing, reserved instance, and savings plan optimization.
– Reduce unused capacity across cloud infrastructure.
– Put budget guardrails in place.
– Advise on architecture choices that balance cost, performance, and scalability.
