# FinOps Engineer
**Location:** Johannesburg, South Africa
**Salary:** R95,000 per month
**Contract:** 6–12 months, project dependent
**Working Model:** Hybrid — 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
## About the Role
This FinOps Engineer role sits within the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and focuses on managing and improving cloud spend across AWS and Microsoft Azure. The position is based in Johannesburg and is offered on a 6–12 month contract, depending on project needs.
The role is intended to strengthen financial visibility across cloud usage and support better business decision-making. You will work closely with Finance, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to improve reporting, governance, budgeting support, and audit readiness.
## Key Responsibilities
– Monitor, analyse, and optimise cloud spend across AWS and Microsoft Azure.
– Build cost reports, dashboards, and forecasting outputs.
– Establish tagging standards, cost allocation practices, and governance controls.
– Identify and drive cloud cost optimisation initiatives.
– Automate FinOps reporting and related processes.
– Partner with Finance, Engineering, and Business stakeholders.
– Support budgeting, audit requirements, and cloud financial governance.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or willingness to obtain it.
– 5–8+ years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, or IT Financial Management.
– Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cost management tools.
– Experience with cloud cost reporting, automation, and optimisation.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
## Preferred Skills
– AWS or Azure certifications.
– Experience with MagicOrange, Power BI, SQL, Python, PowerShell, ServiceNow, or Jira.
– Experience in the financial services industry.
