# FinOps Analyst
Washington, DC (Remote) | Contract
## About the Role
This contract role supports cloud financial operations and governance in a large enterprise, multi-cloud environment with primary focus on AWS and Microsoft Azure, plus some exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The position is designed to improve cloud cost visibility, strengthen governance, and help the business get more value from cloud investments.
The analyst will work closely with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Application Development, Cloud Solutions, and Development teams. The work centers on cloud billing analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary spend while maintaining operational efficiency.
## Key Responsibilities
– Develop and implement FinOps approaches to manage cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
– Review usage and billing data to identify cost optimization opportunities and spending anomalies.
– Partner with technical teams to investigate cost issues and address financial risk.
– Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud governance standards.
– Manage budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, showback, and chargeback reporting.
– Build dashboards and reports that highlight spending trends and optimization opportunities.
– Recommend cost-saving actions that align with governance and operational requirements.
– Stay current on FinOps practices, cloud pricing models, and emerging cloud technologies.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– Experience in cloud financial operations, cloud governance, or FinOps.
– Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure services, resource utilization, and pricing models.
– Experience with cloud cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
– Knowledge of cloud billing analysis and cost allocation methods.
– Experience supporting cloud governance practices.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
– Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across teams.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
– Experience with Apptio, Cloudability, Azure Cost Management, or AWS Cost Explorer.
– Experience in large enterprise or multi-cloud environments.
– Familiarity with the FinOps Framework and cloud financial management best practices.
