# FinOps Analyst

## About the Role
Amtrak is seeking a FinOps Analyst to support cloud financial operations and governance across a multi-cloud environment. The role is centered on AWS and Microsoft Azure, with some exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and is focused on improving cloud spend control, financial visibility, and governance.
The position works closely with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, and Application Development teams. It is suited to someone with experience in cloud cost management, FinOps practices, cloud billing analysis, financial reporting, and cloud governance in a large enterprise environment.
## Key Responsibilities
– Support cloud financial operations and governance across a multi-cloud environment.
– Partner with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Cloud Solutions, and Application Development teams to improve accountability.
– Build dashboards and reports that communicate cloud spending trends and optimization opportunities.
– Monitor cloud usage and billing activity to identify risks and support decision-making.
– Stay current on FinOps methods, cloud pricing models, and emerging cloud technologies.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
– Experience supporting cloud financial operations, cloud governance, or FinOps initiatives.
– Strong understanding of AWS and Azure cloud services, resource utilization, and pricing models.
– Experience with cloud cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
– Knowledge of cloud billing analysis and cost allocation methodologies.
– Experience implementing or supporting cloud governance practices.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
– Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
– Experience with cloud financial management tools such as:

– Experience working in large enterprise or multi-cloud environments.
– Knowledge of the FinOps Framework and cloud financial management best practices.

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Develop and execute FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spending across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
– Analyze cloud usage and billing data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
– Investigate cost anomalies and help resolve financial risks with engineering teams.
– Manage budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, showback, and chargeback processes.
– Support cloud governance standards and best practices.
– Recommend cost-saving actions while maintaining operational efficiency and governance compliance.
