# FinOps Analyst
**Location:** Washington, DC (Remote)

## About the Role
This contract FinOps Analyst role supports cloud financial operations and governance for Amtrak across a multi-cloud environment, primarily AWS and Microsoft Azure, with some exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The position works closely with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, and Application Development teams to improve cloud spend visibility, strengthen governance, and support better investment decisions.
The main focus is to analyze cloud usage and billing data, identify opportunities to optimize costs, and turn financial insights into practical recommendations for stakeholders.
## Key Responsibilities
– Develop and execute FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
– Review cloud usage and billing data to identify cost-saving and resource-efficiency opportunities.
– Investigate cloud cost anomalies and coordinate with Cloud Engineering and Application teams to address financial risk.
– Support cloud governance by helping define, implement, and maintain standards and best practices.
– Manage cloud financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, showback, and chargeback.
– Build dashboards and reports that communicate cloud spending trends and optimization opportunities.
– Partner with Finance, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Solutions, and Development teams to promote financial accountability.
– Recommend cost-saving actions while maintaining operational efficiency and governance compliance.
– Stay current on FinOps methods, cloud pricing models, and emerging cloud technologies.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– Experience supporting cloud financial operations, cloud governance, or FinOps initiatives.
– Strong understanding of AWS and Azure cloud services, resource utilization, and pricing models.
– Experience with cloud cost optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
– Knowledge of cloud billing analysis and cost allocation methods.
– Experience implementing or supporting cloud governance practices.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
– Ability to manage multiple priorities while working with cross-functional teams.
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
– Experience with cloud financial management tools such as:
