# Enterprise Cloud FinOps Lead
## About the Role
The Enterprise Cloud FinOps Lead will own the implementation and ongoing improvement of enterprise Cloud FinOps capabilities within LLNL’s Computing organization, in support of LivIT. The role centers on the tooling, automation, and governance needed to manage cloud spend at scale.
You will work closely with finance, engineering, cloud operations, cybersecurity, service owners, and leadership to translate business and operational needs into practical technical solutions. The work focuses on improving cloud cost visibility, allocation, forecasting, chargeback, and governance across major mission and business areas. This is a hybrid role with one work-from-home day per week, offered as a Career Indefinite position open to both Lab employees and external candidates. Annual salary range: $151,620–$185,640.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead the enterprise Cloud FinOps implementation, including technical tooling, automation, governance, and operating models.
– Partner across finance, engineering, cloud operations, and leadership to deliver cloud financial management solutions.
– Convert business, financial, and operational needs into architectures, data models, workflows, and scalable system designs.
– Build and improve cloud financial reporting, dashboards, forecasting, and allocation models.
– Analyze billing data, usage telemetry, and optimization opportunities to strengthen cost efficiency and visibility.
– Advise stakeholders on cost optimization, chargeback, cloud commitments, usage trends, governance controls, and financial risk.
– Lead large-scale enterprise initiatives involving integrated tools and automation frameworks.
– Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and subject matter expertise for Cloud FinOps capabilities.
## Required Skills
– Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
– Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
– Extensive experience building and supporting technical tools and automated solutions for cloud financial operations.
– Experience with scripting, programming, API integration, data pipelines, and automation frameworks.
– Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms, cloud architecture, and cloud service operations, including cost drivers, pricing models, utilization, and performance across compute, storage, and network services.
– Experience delivering cloud cost optimization, allocation, forecasting, chargeback, financial governance, and visibility solutions using Kion or similar tools.
– Technical leadership experience in requirements development, architecture, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Cloud FinOps tooling and services.
– Experience analyzing complex operational and financial data to create scalable, practical solutions.
– Experience working with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, service owners, financial partners, and leadership in regulated or secure environments.

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Develop and improve cloud financial management tooling, automation, policies, standards, governance processes, and operating models.
– Create cloud financial reporting, dashboards, forecasting, and allocation models.
– Analyze billing data, usage telemetry, and optimization opportunities to improve cost efficiency and operational visibility.
– Support cost optimization, chargeback, cloud commitments, usage analysis, and financial risk management.
– Build governance and allocation approaches that improve cloud accountability and decision-making.
