Our Fortune 500 client is seeking a strategic
Director of Data & Analytics Platform Engineering
to lead the development and evolution of their enterprise data and analytics platforms. This role will focus on enabling scalable, secure, and high-performance environments that support advanced analytics, AI/ML, reporting and data-driven decision-making.
This is a direct hire role that will be in office in Charlotte, North Carolina or Corning, New York.

What you will be doing:
Define and drive the strategic roadmap for enterprise data, reporting and analytics platforms.
Lead architectural decisions to ensure platforms are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with business needs.
Collaborate with enterprise architecture, data governance, and security teams to ensure compliance and integration with enterprise standards.
Build and lead a high-performing team including platform engineers, cloud architects, and DevOps professionals.
Champion engineering best practices, automation, and continuous integration/ deployment (CI/CD).
Oversee the development and operation of data platforms supporting reporting, analytics, data science, and AI/ML workloads.
Ensure platform reliability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence through proactive monitoring and optimization.
Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business leaders to understand platform needs and deliver scalable solutions.
Act as a bridge between platform engineering and enterprise IT, ensuring alignment and support.
Lead vendor evaluations and manage relationships with platform technology providers.
Manage platform budgets, resource planning, and cost optimization strategies.
Ensure maturation of FinOps capabilities across the company for cost-effective scaling of data and AI/ML capabilities.
Track platform usage and ROI and support business case development for new investments.
What you bring to the table:
12+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise data systems.
Strategic thinking, creative mindset.
Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and delivering large-scale platform solutions.
Experience building multi regional global teams.
Expertise with Databricks and AWS services in a production environment; experience with other platforms preferred.
Strong understanding of modern data architectures, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code.
Experience with platform security, data risk management, compliance, and governance in enterprise settings.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
