## About the Role
This Data & FinOps Engineer position supports a GCP platform engagement at Lumenalta. The role sits between data engineering and cloud financial operations, with ownership of audit log pipelines, immutable storage for defensible retention, cost attribution infrastructure, and real-time cloud spend visibility. The work is centered on keeping a complex, multi-tenant platform compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient.
You will partner with data, product, and engineering teams to build the observability and governance layer that supports both operational review and compliance needs. This is a fully remote role for candidates based in Latin America (LATAM) and requires at least a 6-hour overlap with core business hours aligned to U.S. Pacific, Central, or Eastern time zones. Applications are accepted until July 12, 2026, with feedback expected by July 20, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets with compliance-focused schemas, immutable retention controls, and appropriate access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines, including routing MCP inputs and outputs into structured audit stores for security, compliance, and operational review.
– Develop Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards for live spend visibility, trend analysis, and budget forecasting.
– Implement GCP tagging and labeling standards to support cost attribution by tenant, project, and user for chargeback, showback, and optimization.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including notification and escalation thresholds.
– Build metadata pipeline workflows that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention schedules, and lifecycle policy enforcement.
– Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines with a strong focus on data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Work closely with stakeholders across data, product, and engineering to deliver infrastructure that serves operational and compliance requirements.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Experience building production data pipelines.
– Experience with cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery.
– Experience designing audit datasets and compliance-oriented schemas.
– Experience with immutable log retention and access controls, including Object Lock/immutability configuration.
– Experience routing and processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines.
– Understanding of log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Experience implementing Cloud Billing exports.
– Experience defining FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies.
– Experience building Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring.
– Experience with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems.
– Strong proficiency in Python.
– Advanced SQL skills for large datasets in BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Familiarity with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Exposure to Looker.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.

## Why You Might Be Interested
This role combines data engineering with FinOps work in a hands-on GCP environment. It offers ownership of auditability, immutable log retention, cost attribution, and live cloud spend visibility for a multi-tenant platform. The position is fully remote for LATAM-based candidates and is structured around one project at a time. It may appeal to engineers who want to build the data and governance layer behind both compliance and cloud cost management.
