## About the Role
This Data & FinOps Engineer role supports an active GCP platform engagement where data engineering and cloud financial operations come together. The focus is on building the logging, retention, attribution, and reporting foundations needed to keep a multi-tenant environment compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient.
You will work with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver infrastructure that supports operational review, auditability, and cloud spend management. The position is fully remote for candidates based in Latin America, with at least a 6-hour overlap with core business hours, which are primarily aligned with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones.
This is an active opening on a client project. Applications are accepted until July 26, 2026, and candidates can expect feedback by August 3, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets with compliance-ready schemas, retention controls, and access restrictions.
– Build Cloud Audit Log pipelines that continuously route MCP inputs and outputs into structured audit storage.
– Create Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards for spend tracking, trend analysis, and forecasting.
– Develop tagging and labeling standards across GCP resources to support cost allocation by tenant, project, and user.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota risk and cost anomalies, with clear notification and escalation paths.
– Build metadata pipelines that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention, and lifecycle rules.
– Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL pipelines with strong data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Partner with data, product, and engineering teams to deliver infrastructure for operational and compliance use cases.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Production experience building data pipelines, with a stronger focus on cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong hands-on experience with BigQuery, including audit dataset design, compliance-oriented schema modeling, and Object Lock/immutability configuration.
– Experience processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines, including log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or similar workloads.
– Experience with Cloud Billing exports, FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies, and Looker Studio dashboards for tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies in multi-tenant environments.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems, including lifecycle policy enforcement and retention schedule automation.
– Strong Python skills for pipeline development.
– Advanced SQL skills for large-scale querying in BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience with data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
## Preferred Skills
– Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Looker experience for more advanced BI and cost reporting.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
