## About the Role
Lumenalta is hiring a Data & FinOps Engineer for an active GCP platform engagement. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and cloud financial operations, with ownership of audit log pipelines, immutable storage for retention, cost attribution infrastructure, and real-time cloud spend visibility.
You will help build the observability and governance layer that keeps a complex, multi-tenant platform compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient. The work spans BigQuery audit datasets, Cloud Audit Log pipelines, Cloud Billing exports, dashboards, alerting, and metadata workflows.
This is a full-time, fully remote position requiring 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be based in a region aligned with Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones. The salary range is CA$102,000–CA$136,000 annually, with final compensation based on qualifications, expertise, experience, and role scope. Applications are accepted until July 26, 2026, and feedback is expected by August 3, 2026.
## Key Responsibilities
– Design and maintain BigQuery audit datasets, including compliance-focused schema design, immutability support, and access controls.
– Build and operate Cloud Audit Log pipelines that route MCP inputs and outputs into structured, queryable audit stores for security, compliance, and operational review.
– Engineer Cloud Billing export pipelines and Looker Studio dashboards for spend visibility, trend analysis, and budget forecasting.
– Implement GCP tagging and labeling strategies to support tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution for chargeback, showback, and optimization workflows.
– Configure Cloud Monitoring alerts for quota exhaustion and cost anomalies, including alert policies, notification channels, and escalation thresholds.
– Build metadata pipeline workflows that feed archive management systems and support lineage, retention schedules, and lifecycle enforcement.
– Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines with a focus on data quality, consistency, performance, and reliability.
– Partner with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to deliver data infrastructure that supports operational and compliance needs.
## Required Skills
– 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
– Production experience building data pipelines, with a specialization in cloud cost management and audit/compliance infrastructure.
– Strong BigQuery experience, including audit dataset design, schema modeling for compliance use cases, and Object Lock/immutability configuration for retention.
– Experience processing GCP Cloud Audit Logs through structured pipelines, including log sink design, filtering, and continuous delivery patterns for MCP or equivalent workloads.
– Experience implementing Cloud Billing exports, FinOps tagging and labeling taxonomies, and Looker Studio dashboards with tenant-, project-, and user-level cost attribution.
– Experience configuring quota-exhaustion and cost-anomaly alerting in Cloud Monitoring.
– Familiarity with metadata pipeline engineering for archive management systems, including lifecycle policy enforcement and retention schedule automation.
– Strong Python skills for pipeline development.
– Advanced SQL skills for querying large datasets in BigQuery and related GCP data services.
– Experience implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience with Airflow, Kafka, or similar orchestration and messaging tools.
– Familiarity with data governance, DLP policies, or privacy compliance standards.
– Experience with Looker.
– Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
