Whats unique about this job (What you’ll do)
Our data engineering capability sits at the core of how PriceSmart scales, automates, and transforms information into action.
As a Data Engineer, you’ll design and operate reliable, governed, and cost-efficient data pipelines that connect our core platforms and enable analytics, operations, and digital decision-making at scale. This role goes beyond building pipelines; you’ll help shape how data flows across the enterprise, with a strong focus on automation, observability, and performance.
If you enjoy turning complex business needs into elegant, automated data products and partnering closely with analysts, product owners, automation engineers, and architects, this role is built for you.
What you’ll do
Design, develop, and optimize ETL / ELT pipelines using Informatica IICS, dbt, and Snowflake
Build reusable, governed data models supporting forecasting, logistics, and member analytics
Translate business requirements into performant, reliable data products
Implement observability and FinOps practices, including monitoring, alerting, and cost tracking
Automate testing and deployments using Git and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
Apply data governance, security, and compliance standards across all solutions
Collaborate with analysts, product owners, automation engineers, and enterprise architects
Document lineage, transformations, and operational standards
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
Technical environment
Platforms: Snowflake, Informatica IICS, dbt, Power BI, Azure Data Services
Languages: SQL, Python (preferred)
Frameworks and practices: DataOps, CI/CD, version control, FinOps
Bring your passion and expertise (Who you are)
3–5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer, or Automation Engineer
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Python
Proven experience building cloud-based data pipelines and data warehouses
Solid understanding of Kimball or Inmon data modeling principles
Experience working with Snowflake and Informatica IICS (CDI / CAI) in production
Comfortable working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DataOps practices
Able to translate operational and business needs into automated data solutions
Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable in cross-functional, multicultural teams
Fluent in English and Spanish
