Savvee Inc. is seeking an engaging and mission‑driven
Cloud FinOps Specialist
to support our federal client in Silver Spring, MD, in a
hybrid
work environment. This role focuses on helping the organization understand, manage, and optimize its cloud spending while supporting responsible growth and compliance with federal requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with cloud, finance, procurement, and engineering teams to improve cost visibility, guide informed decision‑making, and encourage efficient use of cloud services. This position combines financial analysis, collaboration, and practical problem‑solving to strengthen cloud financial management and overall operational effectiveness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supporting financial oversight of cloud investments to improve cost visibility, efficiency, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Analyzing cloud usage and spending to support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning aligned with mission and organizational goals.
Helping develop and maintain cost management practices, including budgeting, cost allocation, and expenditure reporting.
Monitoring cloud spending and usage to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost improvement.
Recommending and supporting cost‑saving approaches such as right‑sizing resources, reducing unused services, and optimizing pricing and consumption models.
Collaborating with cloud operations, engineering, and architecture teams to ensure technical decisions consider cost and sustainability.
Preparing clear, practical reports and insights on cloud spending for leadership and stakeholders.
Reviewing cloud billing and invoices, help resolve discrepancies, and support accurate financial tracking.
Partnering with finance, procurement, and acquisition teams to align cloud spending with funding strategies and acquisition processes.
Supporting vendor engagement and pricing discussions with cloud service providers.
Helping educate teams on cost‑effective cloud usage and shared accountability for cloud spending.
Working across teams to align cloud financial practices with broader organizational and mission priorities.
Supporting compliance with federal IT financial management and governance requirements.
Staying current on cloud pricing models, FinOps practices, and relevant federal guidance.
Providing financial and analytical support for cloud‑related IT initiatives, including cost modeling and business case development.
Understanding the organizational policies and procedures for accuracy of solutions and deliverables to the client.
Demonstrating a commitment to quality and customer support.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Fifteen or more years of experience
Extensive experience supporting financial management of cloud investments in a federal environment
Demonstrated experience in:
Cloud cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
Cost optimization and financial oversight of IT/cloud programs
Collaboration with OCIO, finance, procurement, and program office
Must have the ability to obtain the client’s Public Trust clearance
A proficiency in utilizing MS Office products
Proven knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts and hands-on experience applying AI solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A highly motivated self-starter
Must be motivated and have excellent customer service skills
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience with major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud cost management tools
Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets
FinOps certification (highly desired)
