# Cloud FinOps Analyst
## About the Role
This US-based Cloud FinOps Analyst role sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, financial operations, and strategic decision-making. The position exists to improve visibility into cloud spending, identify optimization opportunities, and support smarter infrastructure investments across large-scale environments.
You will work closely with engineering, finance, and executive stakeholders. The role focuses on connecting cloud architecture choices to financial outcomes and helping the business improve efficiency, scalability, and cost control.
## Key Responsibilities
– Build a strong understanding of cloud architecture and infrastructure across multiple environments.
– Analyze cloud spending patterns and connect technical decisions to financial impact.
– Identify cost anomalies, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities across compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
– Create dashboards, reporting frameworks, and cost intelligence tools for real-time spend visibility.
– Support cloud governance efforts, including tagging standards, resource lifecycle management, and rightsizing.
– Partner with engineering teams to review the cost impact of architecture decisions before and after deployment.
– Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and reporting processes that support cloud financial management.
– Serve as the main point of contact for cloud cost questions and provide business-focused recommendations to leadership.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cloud strategy, operational priorities, and infrastructure roadmaps.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, cloud architecture, FinOps, or a related infrastructure-focused role.
– Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Databricks environments.
– Proficiency in Python for data analysis, reporting, and automation.
– Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, including containerization, serverless technologies, managed databases, and distributed systems.
– Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or CloudWatch.
– Familiarity with FinOps methods and cloud cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Apptio, or native cloud optimization tools.
– Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
– Ability to translate technical findings into executive-level recommendations.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience in regulated industries, life sciences, or enterprise SaaS.
– Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or FinOps Certified Practitioner.
