## About the Role

The Azure FinOps SME will support cloud financial management across Azure environments, with a focus on cost optimization, governance, forecasting, and financial accountability. This role exists to help the organization improve cloud value while maintaining transparency and operational control over spend.

You will work across business, finance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify savings opportunities, strengthen cost controls, and support informed decision-making. The position also involves building reporting and dashboarding capabilities that translate cloud spend into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Calgary, AB, requiring deep experience in Azure FinOps and cloud financial analysis.

## Key Responsibilities

– Manage and optimize Azure cloud spend through cost analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting.
– Support FinOps practices such as cost allocation, chargeback/showback, Reservations, and Savings Plans optimization.
– Build dashboards and executive reports using Power BI, Excel, and FinOps tools.
– Partner with engineering, finance, and leadership teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve cloud efficiency.
– Establish and maintain cloud governance, financial controls, and optimization frameworks.
– Automate FinOps processes and contribute to AI-enabled cost management initiatives.
– Present cloud financial insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

## Required Skills

– 8–12 years of overall IT experience.
– 4+ years of hands-on experience in Azure FinOps, cloud cost management, financial analysis, forecasting, and optimization.
– Strong expertise in Azure Cost Management, Reservations, Savings Plans, budgeting, and cost allocation.
– Experience with Power BI, advanced Excel, Apptio, automation, and reporting tools.
– Proven experience working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
– Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience implementing FinOps governance frameworks.
– Knowledge of cloud automation and AI-driven FinOps solutions.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification and/or Azure certifications.
