FinOps Specialist
Location: London | Leeds | Manchester
Salary: £70,000 – £90,000
Working Pattern: Full-time (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for SC and DV Clearance
Overview
A leading digital and cyber consultancy operating within the defence and national security sector is seeking a FinOps Specialist to drive cloud cost optimisation and efficiency across large-scale AWS environments. The Role
As a FinOps Specialist, you will operate at both strategic and technical levels, advising a large business unit on how to maximise value from AWS investments.
Key responsibilities include:
Applying FinOps principles to improve cloud efficiency and cost transparency
Advising architects and engineering teams to embed cost optimisation into solution design from day one
Developing and shaping FinOps strategies for cloud migration programmes
Influencing architectural decisions with a strong cost and scalability lens
Building data-driven business cases for cloud optimisation initiatives
Engaging senior stakeholders to align cloud spend with business objectives
Developing and promoting FinOps value propositions internally and externally
Supporting teams in leveraging AWS pricing models and cost management tooling effectively
This is a hands-on advisory role where you will champion FinOps best practice across technical teams and business leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience applying FinOps principles in complex, large-scale cloud environments
Deep expertise in AWS services, pricing models and cost optimisation tools
Experience embedding cost efficiency into cloud architecture and engineering practices
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing senior leaders
Experience building robust, data-backed business cases for optimisation initiatives
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable
Experience within government, defence or regulated environments
Exposure to large-scale cloud migration programmes
Experience developing and marketing FinOps offerings or advisory services
