## About the Role
Xsolla is looking for a Senior FinOps Engineer to lead and develop cloud and infrastructure financial management across GCP, AWS, and on-premises environments. This role sits within the infrastructure team and is focused on improving cost transparency, optimizing cloud spend, and supporting predictable, efficient infrastructure operations.
The position works closely with engineering, product, and finance stakeholders to influence workload placement, scaling decisions, and infrastructure strategy. A key part of the role is turning usage data into clear financial and operational insights that help teams make better decisions.
This role combines hands-on analysis with cross-functional influence. It is well suited to someone who can balance tactical cost reductions with longer-term improvements in architecture, automation, and governance.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud cost optimization efforts across GCP, AWS, and on-prem infrastructure.
– Analyze usage across compute, storage, networking, Kubernetes, virtual machines, and physical servers to identify cost-saving opportunities.
– Build forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting to improve visibility into spend trends and cost drivers.
– Define and maintain tagging/labeling standards, budgeting processes, and governance policies.
– Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Product on workload placement, architecture decisions, and scaling strategy.
– Promote FinOps best practices, including rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimization, multi-cloud efficiency, and storage cost management.
– Develop internal tooling, automation, and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution.
– Support FinOps education and cost accountability across engineering teams through reviews and stakeholder communication.
– Track cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry developments to improve FinOps maturity.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong focus on cost optimization.
– Hands-on experience with GCP, with AWS experience also required.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling.
– Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution.
– Strong analytical and data engineering skills, including the ability to build dashboards, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models.
– Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering, product, and finance stakeholders.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical topics into business-focused recommendations.
– Fluent English, written and verbal.
## Preferred Skills
– GCP and/or AWS cloud certifications at the Professional level.
– Understanding of FinOps Framework practices or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience in gaming, high-growth tech, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments.
– Familiarity with chargeback/showback models, internal cost allocation systems, or multi-tenant architecture.
– Experience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows in cost-related automation.
– Background in data analytics, cloud architecture, or financial modeling.
