## About the Role
Xsolla is hiring a Senior FinOps Engineer to help mature cloud and infrastructure financial management across GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments. The role sits within the infrastructure team and is focused on improving cost transparency, optimizing spend, and supporting predictable infrastructure growth across the business.
You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Finance to analyze usage patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and help shape workload placement and scaling decisions. The role also supports broader FinOps maturity by building reporting, strengthening governance, and improving accountability across teams and services.
This position combines hands-on technical analysis with cross-functional influence. It is well suited to someone who can work across cloud, Kubernetes, and infrastructure environments while translating cost data into practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud cost optimization efforts across GCP, AWS, and on-prem infrastructure.
– Analyze compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes usage to identify cost-saving opportunities without affecting performance or reliability.
– Build forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting for cost visibility and trend analysis.
– Develop and maintain tagging and labeling standards, budgeting processes, and governance policies.
– Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Product on workload placement, architecture decisions, and scaling strategies.
– Promote FinOps practices including rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimization, multi-cloud efficiency, and cost-effective storage use.
– Create tooling, automation, and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and physical servers in both datacenters and cloud environments.
– Train engineering teams, run FinOps reviews, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
– Stay current on cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry trends to improve FinOps maturity.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong focus on cost optimization.
– Hands-on experience with GCP, with AWS also required.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling.
– Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution in distributed environments.
– Experience with cloud cost tools such as GCP Billing exports, BigQuery, AWS CUR, Kubecost, CloudHealth, observability cost features, and custom dashboards.
– Strong analytical and data engineering skills, including dashboards, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models.
– Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering, product, and finance stakeholders.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical ideas into business-focused recommendations.
– Fluent English, written and verbal.
## Preferred Skills
– Professional-level GCP and/or AWS certifications.
– FinOps Framework knowledge or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience in gaming, high-growth tech, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments.
– Familiarity with chargeback or showback models, internal cost allocation systems, or multi-tenant architecture.
– Experience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows in cost-related automation.
– Background in data analytics, cloud architecture, or financial modeling.
