# Manager – Finance (Business Controller)
**Location:** Mumbai
## About the Role
This role focuses on business controlling, operational reporting, and product controlling, with a strong emphasis on steering logic implementation. The position is intended to strengthen financial visibility across business operations and support decision-making through analysis of profitability, performance, and key operational measures.
You will work closely with Product, Operations, management, country teams, and the CFO on month-end analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting. The role also supports global and GSC projects, process improvements, and dashboard-based monitoring across financial and operational activities.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead business controlling activities and support the implementation of steering logic.
– Review financials and job profitability, and work with Product and Operations teams on required adjustments.
– Conduct customer profitability reviews and provide clear transparency to key stakeholders.
– Perform month-end analysis across customers, trade lanes, and products, and support Product and the CFO in closing the books on time.
– Run month-end reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business review meetings with key stakeholders.
– Monitor business performance and report financial findings from operational activities during the reporting period.
– Track product performance and target achievement, including root-cause analysis on KPIs such as product, station, and file profitability, cost of sales, variance analysis, GP/EBIT conversion, and productivity.
– Review loss-making customers and countries, and coordinate follow-up actions with the relevant parties.
– Prepare accurate financial analysis, performance reporting, and management presentations.
– Support budget preparation and review activities.
– Identify issues and recommend improvements to financial and operational processes.
– Contribute to or lead Global and GSC projects.
– Support steering logic implementation, Flow to Forwin reconciliation, Sick File/Product monitor dashboards, and GP optimization or revenue leakage metrics.
– Ensure group timelines are met consistently.
– Handle additional duties based on evolving business needs.
## Required Skills
– Strong understanding of finance processes, especially accounting and controlling.
– Accounting knowledge supported by a master’s or professional degree.
– Experience in freight forwarding or the logistics industry.
– Experience assessing process design changes to improve controlling processes across global operations.
– Experience contributing to or leading complex global projects with cross-functional stakeholders.
– Ability to work under pressure and in a changing environment.
– Ability to work independently and manage time and tasks effectively.
– Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
– Strong proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
– Solid P&L and balance sheet analysis capability.
– Ability to analyze reports and data using a hypothesis-driven approach.
– Strong presentation, written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
– Strong customer orientation and the ability to build effective business partnerships.
– Ability to challenge constructively, propose solutions, resolve problems, and support decision-making.
– Ability to manage multiple financial tasks, especially during month- and quarter-end close.
– Advanced MS Office skills and strong spreadsheet capability.
– MS Excel skills.
## Preferred Skills
– Knowledge of Forwin, Crest, and Qlik dashboards.
– Experience creating Power BI dashboards or other visual dashboard reports.
– Knowledge of VBA macros and process automation.
