## About the Role
Sumsub is hiring a FinOps Analyst to manage and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure spend. This role is focused on building cloud cost intelligence from the ground up and helping improve product profitability through clearer visibility into infrastructure costs.
You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, product, and business stakeholders to investigate billing patterns, enforce tagging discipline, and connect cloud usage data to business outcomes. The position combines cost analysis, governance, and financial insight across AWS environments.
## Key Responsibilities
– Review monthly AWS billing data to identify cost spikes, anomalies, and architectural inefficiencies.
– Partner with engineering teams to investigate unexpected spend and maintain accountability.
– Build, enforce, and maintain a global tagging policy for cost allocation by environment, business unit, and component.
– Manage AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances to improve discount utilization without overcommitting resources.
– Identify orphaned resources, unused volumes, and idle staging or development environments, and support optimization work with DevOps.
– Work with product and business analysts to map infrastructure hosting costs to revenue and assess long-term product profitability.
## Required Skills
– Strong engineering background, ideally in system administration, DevOps, QA automation, or technical support engineering.
– Experience with AWS cost tools, including AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Cost and Usage Report (CUR).
– Deep understanding of core AWS services and their billing models, including EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, and networking.
– Strong data manipulation skills and the ability to write custom queries for detailed infrastructure spend analysis.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain cloud metrics to both technical and business stakeholders.
– Strong interest in data analysis and cloud cost efficiency.
## Preferred Skills
– Experience with ClickHouse and dbt for building custom billing pipelines.
– Hands-on experience with Amazon Athena and SQL for analyzing raw AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR).
– Background in regulated FinTech or SaaS environments, including familiarity with PCI DSS compliance and strict security boundaries.
