## About the Role
The Cloud Financial Management Specialist will play a vital role in governing cloud financial management practices, ensuring that cloud spending is transparent, controlled, and in line with the organization’s financial objectives. This role is designed to enhance visibility into costs, facilitate effective budgeting, and optimize cloud resources through detailed reporting and cost allocation mechanisms. Collaboration will occur with application teams, platform engineering, and cloud operations teams, driving improvements in cost efficiency while aligning financial practices with organizational goals.
The specialist will be responsible for analyzing spending patterns and working closely with various teams to provide insights and recommendations for cost optimization. This position not only impacts departmental budgets but also contributes to broader financial planning efforts within the organization.
## Key Responsibilities
– Develop and maintain cloud cost governance policies and usage controls for responsible cloud consumption.
– Configure and manage budget alerts to monitor expenditures and notify stakeholders when thresholds are nearing.
– Create and maintain cloud cost dashboards and financial reports to provide insights into spending trends and drivers.
– Support the budgeting and forecasting processes based on historical data and growth projections.
– Implement cost allocation and showback mechanisms to attribute spending to specific departments and applications.
– Analyze cloud usage patterns to identify optimization opportunities and recommend cost-saving measures.
– Evaluate commitment-based pricing options, such as Committed Use Discounts (CUDs), based on workload patterns.
– Oversee the purchase and lifecycle management of commitment-based discounts for enhanced financial efficiency.
– Collaborate with platform engineering and operations teams to enforce cost governance through effective tagging strategies.
– Maintain documentation of financial governance policies and optimization practices.
– Assist with annual departmental financial planning and budgeting activities.
## Required Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
– A minimum of 3 years of experience in IT financial operations, budgeting, and cost allocation.

– Master’s degree in MIS, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
