About the Role
We are seeking a results-driven FinOps Practitioner to strengthen our FinOps practice within a complex and high-impact IT environment. This role is ideal for professionals with a blend of technical expertise, financial acumen, and stakeholder management capabilities who can lead cost optimization initiatives across hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructures.
You will support key domains in identifying and realizing cost-efficiency opportunities across major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and traditional IT environments (VMware, storage, databases, containers, etc.). In addition, you will contribute to the advancement of our FinOps data engineering and analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead FinOps engagements with high-expenditure business units to drive cost transparency, ownership, and optimization.
Analyze cloud and on-premises spend to generate actionable insights and measurable improvement plans.
Implement governance, guardrails, and a cadence for continuous optimization, including performance reviews, steering meetings, and reporting.
Align cost optimization opportunities with technical architecture and operations, promoting proactive (shift-left) cost management.
Act as a strategic liaison among engineering, finance, procurement, and leadership to align forecasts, budgets, and value realization.
FinOps Practice Overview
Our FinOps team operates within a larger technology services organization that delivers infrastructure platforms and DevOps tooling across hybrid environments. The team enables product and platform owners to:
Understand cost origins across all IT consumption layers.
Translate usage patterns into financial and operational insights.
Establish a culture of continuous cost optimization.
We work closely with platform engineers, procurement, finance teams, and senior leadership to embed cost efficiency into day-to-day operations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in complex IT environments (engineering, platform, infrastructure, or transformation).
FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or FinOps Certified Professional, with practical knowledge of FinOps frameworks and capabilities.
Demonstrated credibility with engineering teams; able to engage deeply with technical stakeholders.
Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with structured delivery and project management skills.
Strong analytical skills and familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI), capable of turning data into narratives and business value.
Proven stakeholder engagement across technical and executive levels.
Sound understanding of financial operations such as budgeting, forecasting, chargeback/showback, depreciation, and unit economics.
Hands-on technical exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), on-premises systems (VMware, storage, databases), and containers/Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, OpenShift).
Self-starter with strong ownership, resilience, and collaborative leadership.
