The Role
I’m partnering with a well-established, tech-led organisation that’s investing in a senior Technical Account Manager to take commercial ownership of their AWS environment, with a strong focus on cost optimisation, financial governance and value realisation.
This is a strategic, business-facing role sitting between senior stakeholders and technical delivery teams. The mandate is clear: make AWS spend predictable, optimised and clearly aligned to business outcomes.
This is not a hands-on engineering role. It’s for someone who understands AWS well enough to challenge architecture and usage decisions, but ultimately thinks like a commercial owner rather than a builder.
Requirements
You bring a strong AWS commercial and FinOps background and are comfortable owning conversations around:
· AWS cost drivers and consumption patterns
· Budgeting, forecasting and variance management
· Cost optimisation levers (e.g. Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, right-sizing, tagging)
· Governance across multi-account AWS environments
· Translating technical choices into clear financial impact
Day-to-Day Activities
· Own AWS budgets, forecasts and cost governance
· Partner with senior stakeholders to prioritise initiatives based on value vs investment
· Challenge technical designs through a cost, efficiency and scalability lens
· Put practical guardrails in place so AWS spend remains controlled and transparent
· Lead vendor conversations with AWS and partners around pricing, usage and optimisation
