## About the Role
Xsolla is hiring a Senior FinOps Engineer to strengthen and mature cloud and infrastructure financial management across GCP, AWS, and on-prem environments. This role sits within the infrastructure team and focuses on improving cost transparency, optimizing cloud spend, and helping ensure infrastructure remains efficient and predictable as the business scales.
The position partners closely with Engineering, Product, and Finance to shape workload placement, support architecture decisions, and guide scaling strategies. It also plays a key role in building the processes, reporting, and governance needed to support data-driven cost accountability across the organization.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can analyze usage patterns, build practical financial models, and turn findings into actionable recommendations. The work spans technical analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and ongoing FinOps maturity improvement across a global platform.
## Key Responsibilities
– Lead cloud cost optimization efforts across GCP, AWS, and on-prem infrastructure.
– Analyze compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes usage to identify savings opportunities without affecting performance or reliability.
– Build forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting to provide visibility into cost drivers and trends.
– Develop and maintain tagging and labeling standards, budgeting processes, and governance policies.
– Work with Engineering, Finance, and Product to inform workload placement, architecture, and scaling decisions.
– Drive FinOps practices such as rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling optimization, multi-cloud efficiency, and storage cost optimization.
– Build internal tools, automation, and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and physical servers.
– Promote cost awareness through training, FinOps reviews, and stakeholder communication.
– Track cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry trends to improve FinOps maturity.
## Required Skills
– 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles with a strong focus on cost optimization.
– Hands-on experience with GCP, with AWS also required.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling.
– Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution in distributed environments.
– Proficiency with cloud cost tools, including:
– GCP Billing exports
– BigQuery
– AWS CUR
– Kubecost
– CloudHealth
– Cost monitoring features in observability tools
– Custom dashboards
– Strong analytical and data engineering skills, including the ability to build dashboards, SQL-based pipelines, and forecasting models.
– Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing engineering, product, and finance stakeholders.
– Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business recommendations.
– Fluent English, written and spoken.
## Preferred Skills
– GCP and/or AWS cloud certifications at Professional level.
– Understanding of FinOps Framework practices or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience in gaming, high-growth tech, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments.
– Familiarity with chargeback/showback models, internal cost allocation systems, or multi-tenant architecture.
– Experience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows in cost-related automation.
– Background in data analytics, cloud architecture, or financial modeling.
