# Cloud FinOps Engineer

## About the Role

The Cloud FinOps Engineer develops and implements frameworks, processes, and tools that improve financial management across Azure cloud operations. The role helps ensure cloud resources deliver strong business value while embedding financial accountability into day-to-day engineering and operations.

Working across finance, operations, and technical teams, this position uses automation, reporting, governance, and data analysis to improve cost visibility and resource utilization. The engineer also investigates cloud expense discrepancies and identifies opportunities for savings and optimization.

Candidates residing outside these states must relocate to Montana or an approved state to qualify.

## Key Responsibilities

– Develop and execute a comprehensive FinOps strategy for Azure operations.
– Forecast cloud expenses using usage trends and organizational objectives.
– Monitor and analyze cloud costs to identify optimization and savings opportunities.
– Partner with technical teams to improve resource utilization and manage cloud spend.
– Produce and maintain reports covering cloud costs, usage, and optimization opportunities.
– Manage relationships with cloud service providers and support pricing and contract negotiations.
– Research and apply industry practices in cloud financial management.
– Manage purchase orders and prepare budget-related information.
– Provide rotating on-call support.
– Complete other related duties as assigned.

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
– At least five years of experience with cloud infrastructure, automation frameworks, and/or infrastructure best practices.
– At least five years of experience in IT infrastructure and infrastructure operations.
– At least three years of experience with Azure cloud financial management, cost optimization, billing models, and reporting tools.
– FinOps Certified Practitioner certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
– Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
– Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact, and confidentiality.
– Ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
– Ability to learn and use current and new computer applications and office equipment.

## FinOps Responsibilities

## Schedule Requirements

– Regular and sustained attendance is required.
– The role may involve more than 40 hours per week, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
– Rotating on-call coverage may be required to respond to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
