# Senior FinOps Engineer

## About the Role

Xsolla is seeking a Senior FinOps Engineer to lead cloud and infrastructure financial management across GCP, AWS, and on-premises environments. The role will improve cost transparency, optimize spending at scale, and help make the company’s global infrastructure more efficient and predictable.

You will work within the infrastructure team and partner with Engineering, Product, and Finance. The position combines hands-on analysis and automation with architectural guidance, stakeholder communication, and the development of mature FinOps practices.

## Key Responsibilities

– Lead cloud cost optimization across GCP, AWS, and on-premises infrastructure.
– Analyze compute, storage, networking, and Kubernetes usage to identify savings opportunities while maintaining performance and reliability.
– Build forecasting models, dashboards, and automated reporting for cost drivers and trends.
– Establish tagging and labeling standards, budgeting processes, and cost governance policies.
– Advise Engineering, Product, and Finance on workload placement, architecture, and scaling decisions.
– Improve rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling, multi-cloud efficiency, and storage cost management.
– Develop tooling and pipelines for cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and usage attribution across Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and physical servers.
– Train engineering teams, conduct FinOps reviews, and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
– Track cloud pricing models, vendor offerings, and industry developments to advance FinOps maturity.

## Required Skills

– At least 5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps, with a strong focus on cost optimization.
– Hands-on experience with GCP and AWS, with GCP experience prioritized.
– Strong understanding of cloud pricing models, resource types, and cost management tooling.
– Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes resource allocation, autoscaling, workload placement, and cost attribution.
– Experience with GCP Billing exports, BigQuery, AWS CUR, third-party cost monitoring tools, observability-based cost monitoring, and custom dashboards.
– Strong analytical and data engineering capabilities, including SQL-based pipelines, dashboards, and forecasting models.
– Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing Engineering, Product, and Finance stakeholders.
– Ability to translate technical findings into business-focused recommendations.
– Fluency in written and spoken English.

## Preferred Skills

– Professional-level GCP or AWS certifications.
– Knowledge of FinOps Framework practices or FinOps Certified Practitioner certification.
– Experience in gaming, high-growth technology, SaaS, or multi-cloud platform environments.
– Familiarity with chargeback/showback, internal cost allocation, or multi-tenant architectures.
– Experience with Terraform, Helm, or GitOps workflows for cost-related automation.
– Background in data analytics, cloud architecture, or financial modeling.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Optimize cloud and infrastructure costs across GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, and on-premises environments.
– Build cost forecasts, dashboards, and reporting for spend visibility.
– Establish tagging, labeling, budgeting, governance, and usage attribution practices.
– Support rightsizing, reservation planning, autoscaling, workload placement, and storage optimization.
– Develop cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and allocation automation.
– Promote cost accountability through FinOps reviews, training, and stakeholder communication.
