## About the Role

Proalpha is seeking a FinOps professional to join its R&D Cloud Operations team and help establish economically sustainable cloud usage. The role combines cloud architecture expertise with financial management.

You will develop and operate FinOps practices across cloud teams, assess the financial impact of architecture decisions, and identify sustainable cost-optimization opportunities. The position works closely with Cloud Platform, Controlling, and product teams to improve transparency and support informed decisions.

This is a full-time role based in Germany, with the option to work from one of Proalpha’s locations or remotely.

## Key Responsibilities

– Establish, develop, and operate FinOps practices across cloud teams.
– Analyze cost structures across data centers and cloud providers.
– Assess the financial implications of cloud architecture decisions.
– Identify and implement sustainable cloud cost-optimization measures.
– Improve transparency around consumption, budgets, and savings opportunities.
– Develop standards, guidelines, decision frameworks, and FinOps governance structures.
– Establish tagging models, cost-center logic, forecasts, KPIs, and showback and chargeback models.
– Create reports and dashboards that support financial decision-making.
– Coach teams in applying FinOps principles and taking ownership of cloud costs.

## Required Skills

– Completed degree or equivalent qualification in IT, business informatics, controlling, data analytics, or a related field.
– Several years of experience in cloud cost management.
– Practical experience applying FinOps principles in AWS or Azure environments.
– Strong knowledge of the FinOps Framework, AWS and Azure architectures, and cloud cost models.
– Experience with forecasting, business cases, reporting, and FinOps governance.
– Knowledge of AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Budgets, Trusted Advisor, and BI tools.
– Structured and analytical working style.
– Confidence communicating with and mediating between technical and commercial stakeholders.
– Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
– Very good German and good English skills for communication in an international environment.
