# Cloud FinOps Analyst | Cloud Cost Manager

## About the Role

This role is responsible for improving cloud-spend visibility, optimizing consumption, and strengthening financial management across the organization. The position analyzes usage, billing, cost drivers, and business requirements to ensure cloud investments deliver measurable value.

You will work across Finance, IT, Engineering, DevOps, Procurement, and business teams. The role supports budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, governance, optimization, and financial assessments for cloud services, migrations, modernization, and other technology initiatives.

The position also provides financial insights to technology leaders and senior management while promoting cost accountability and FinOps practices throughout the cloud lifecycle.

## Key Responsibilities

– Analyze cloud consumption, expenditure, usage trends, billing data, and cost drivers across services, accounts, subscriptions, projects, and business units.
– Produce and maintain cost dashboards, reports, forecasts, financial models, KPIs, efficiency metrics, and optimization targets.
– Monitor resource utilization and identify idle, underused, oversized, unnecessary, or inefficient resources.
– Recommend and track rightsizing, scheduling, scaling, reserved-capacity, savings-plan, and other cost-optimization measures.
– Support cloud budgets, financial planning, forecasts, long-term cost projections, and variance investigations.
– Partner with Engineering, DevOps, IT, and Cloud teams to integrate cost awareness into architecture, development, operations, and governance practices.
– Establish cloud cost-management standards, policies, allocation models, governance procedures, and lifecycle processes.
– Analyze unit economics, including cost per customer, transaction, application, workload, and business service.
– Support business cases and financial evaluations for new cloud services, migrations, modernization, digital transformation, and technology investments.
– Work with Procurement on cloud contracts, pricing arrangements, discounts, and vendor commitments.
– Reconcile cloud invoices with internal financial records and investigate anomalies, duplicate costs, unexpected charges, and billing errors.
– Document optimization procedures, cost policies, allocation models, and governance standards.
– Communicate financial insights to senior technology and finance stakeholders.
– Drive continuous improvements in reporting accuracy, automation, cost visibility, and cloud financial-management processes.

## Required Skills

– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
– Experience in FinOps, cloud cost management, technology finance, IT financial management, cloud operations, or a comparable role.
– Strong knowledge of cloud computing and cloud financial-management principles.
– Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent cloud environments.
– Understanding of cloud billing structures, pricing models, usage metrics, and cost drivers.
– Experience analyzing cloud expenditure and identifying optimization opportunities.
– Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
– Familiarity with cloud billing consoles, cost explorers, budgets, alerts, and reporting platforms.
– Knowledge of cloud resource tagging, account structures, cost centers, and allocation models.
– Understanding of chargeback, showback, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
– Strong analytical, quantitative, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
– Ability to convert technical cloud-usage data into financial and business insights.
– Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills.
– Excellent communication and presentation skills.
– Ability to manage stakeholders across Finance, IT, Engineering, Procurement, and business teams.
– Ability to manage multiple cost-analysis and optimization initiatives concurrently.
– Strong commercial awareness and understanding of technology investment and business value.

– Experience with cloud cost-management and FinOps tools.
– Experience creating dashboards with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or comparable platforms.
– Familiarity with SQL, Python, APIs, or automation tools.

## FinOps Responsibilities

– Monitor cloud spend across services, accounts, subscriptions, projects, and business units.
– Establish cost allocation, chargeback, and showback models.
– Track budgets, spending limits, forecasts, actual expenditure, and significant variances.
– Develop forecasts using historical usage, business growth, and planned technology initiatives.
– Identify savings opportunities without compromising performance or reliability.
– Evaluate pricing models and the financial impact of cloud operations.
– Analyze compute, storage, database, networking, and other cloud-service costs.
– Measure unit economics and define cloud-efficiency KPIs.
– Support financial cases for cloud services, migrations, modernization, and technology investments.
– Review vendor pricing, discounts, contracts, and commitments with Procurement.
– Reconcile invoices and investigate billing anomalies, duplicate charges, and errors.
– Track realized savings and report optimization outcomes.
– Establish governance standards, documentation, cost policies, and FinOps practices.
– Improve cost visibility, reporting accuracy, automation, and cost accountability.
