## About the Role
State Farm is hiring an Azure FinOps Analyst to join its centralized cloud financial management team. The role focuses on turning Azure spend data into actionable insight that improves cost optimization, operational efficiency, and AI-supported decision making.
The analyst will work closely with Engineering, Information Security, Finance, Architecture, and Platform teams to improve how cloud investments are managed. The position has visibility across a multi-million-dollar Azure environment and contributes to decisions that affect more than nine figures in annual cloud spend. It also supports the development of FinOps capabilities for AI and AI for FinOps.
This is a hybrid role for candidates who live within 180 miles of Bloomington, IL; Richardson, TX; Dunwoody, GA; or Tempe, AZ.
## Key Responsibilities
– Own Azure spend analytics and provide visibility into cost drivers, trends, forecasts, and anomalies.
– Lead AI for FinOps initiatives, including anomaly detection, optimization recommendations, natural-language insights, executive reporting automation, and decision-support solutions.
– Partner with cloud platform teams on Azure commitments, reservations, savings opportunities, discount programs, and consumption alignment.
– Identify idle, orphaned, overprovisioned, and misconfigured resources, and quantify the business value of optimization opportunities.
– Build executive dashboards, forecasting models, KPIs, and self-service reporting.
– Collaborate with engineering, architecture, finance, data, and governance stakeholders.
– Translate technical cloud usage patterns into financial narratives and business recommendations.
– Promote continuous cost optimization, accountability, and operational excellence.
## Required Skills
– Strong experience with Microsoft Azure in large-scale enterprise environments
– Experience using Azure native cost management, billing, and governance capabilities
– Understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization strategies
– Strong knowledge of Azure cost drivers, including compute, storage, networking, commitments and reservations, and utilization patterns
– Advanced SQL skills and experience analyzing large datasets
– Experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI
– Experience with APIs, scripting, or automation technologies such as Python, SQL, infrastructure tooling, or workflow orchestration platforms
– Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
– Ability to communicate technical concepts to both engineering and business audiences
– Curiosity, creativity, and willingness to challenge conventional thinking
– Comfort experimenting with new ideas and learning from failure to drive innovation
## Preferred Skills
– FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps Certified Engineer, or FinOps AI Value certification
– Microsoft Azure cloud certifications
– Experience building AI-enabled analytics or automation solutions
– Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), AI platforms, prompt engineering, or AI governance concepts
– Experience with cloud APIs and automation frameworks
– Knowledge of forecasting, statistical modeling, or anomaly detection techniques

## FinOps Responsibilities
– Provide visibility into Azure spend, including cost drivers, trends, forecasts, and anomalies.
– Support AI for FinOps capabilities such as anomaly detection, optimization recommendations, reporting automation, and decision support.
– Improve Azure commitments, reservation strategies, savings opportunities, and consumption alignment.
– Identify waste and quantify the value of remediation opportunities.
– Build dashboards, KPIs, forecasting models, and self-service reporting.
– Strengthen cost governance, accountability, and continuous optimization practices.
– Translate cloud usage into financial and business recommendations.
## Benefits
– Compensation is based on a standard 38:45-hour work week
– Starting salary range: $107,000–$142,000, based on skills, background, and experience
