## About the Role

This FinOps Analyst role is focused on managing AWS infrastructure spend and establishing cloud cost intelligence from the ground up. The position exists to improve cost visibility, identify inefficiencies, and support better decisions around product profitability.

You will work closely with engineering teams, DevOps, and product/business analysts to connect infrastructure usage to business outcomes. The role combines cloud cost analysis, allocation, commitment management, and profitability reporting.

## Key Responsibilities

– Review monthly AWS billing data to identify cost spikes, anomalies, and inefficiencies.
– Investigate unexpected spend and work with engineering teams on accountability and resolution.
– Build, enforce, and maintain a global tagging policy for cost allocation across environments, business units, and components.
– Manage AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances to improve discount usage without overcommitting.
– Identify orphaned resources, unused volumes, and idle non-production environments.
– Partner with DevOps on optimization and rightsizing initiatives.
– Work with product and business analysts to map hosting costs to revenue and assess product profitability.

## Required Skills

– Strong engineering background, such as experience in System Administration, DevOps, QA Automation, or Technical Support Engineering.
– Hands-on experience with AWS cost tools, including AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Cost and Usage Report (CUR).
– Solid understanding of core AWS services and how they scale and bill, including EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, and Networking.
– Strong data manipulation skills and the ability to write custom queries for detailed infrastructure spend analysis.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex cloud cost data to technical and business stakeholders.
– A strong interest in data analysis and cloud cost efficiency.

## Preferred Skills

– Experience with ClickHouse and dbt.
– Experience using Amazon Athena and SQL to analyse raw AWS Cost and Usage Reports.
– Background in FinTech or SaaS environments.
– Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance and strict security boundaries.
