This is an exciting opportunity to combine cloud engineering expertise with FinOps principles to optimize and govern multi-cloud environments while enabling scalable and business-aligned cloud adoption.
As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in enabling efficient, scalable, and well-governed cloud usage across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments. Working closely with Cloud, SRE, Platform Engineering, Security, and Finance teams, you will build technical solutions that improve cloud visibility, governance, automation, and cost optimization.
This role focuses on engineering-led FinOps practices, embedding cost awareness and optimization directly into cloud platforms, infrastructure, and operational workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Operations & FinOps Engineering
Analyze cloud usage, spending patterns, and cost drivers across AWS, Azure, and GCP
Monitor cost allocation, tagging compliance, anomaly detection, and optimization initiatives
Investigate cloud consumption spikes and identify root causes
Develop dashboards, scorecards, and cloud consumption reporting solutions
Identify and implement improvements to cloud governance and operational processes
Cost Optimization & Engineering Execution
Identify opportunities to improve cloud efficiency, including:
Compute and database rightsizing
Storage lifecycle optimization
Kubernetes and container cost optimization
Network and data transfer efficiency
Support cloud commitment strategies and optimization initiatives
Drive proactive and automated approaches to cloud cost management
Platform Enablement & Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with engineering and application teams to provide cloud cost and architecture guidance
Facilitate cloud consumption reviews and optimization discussions
Promote FinOps best practices across provisioning, deployment, and operational processes
Collaborate with Finance teams by providing reliable cloud cost data and reporting capabilities
Automation & Infrastructure Engineering
Develop automation solutions using
Python
Build and enhance cloud-native solutions leveraging:
AWS Lambda
Step Functions
DynamoDB, RDS, and Redshift
Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using
CloudFormation
Integrate cost controls, reporting, and governance checks into CI/CD pipelines
Automate cloud cost reporting, utilization analysis, and billing data processing
Governance & Compliance
Support IAM and role-based access controls to improve accountability
Enforce cloud tagging standards and ownership models
Ensure auditability and traceability of cloud cost data
Partner with Security and Compliance teams to embed governance controls into platform standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
4–5+ years of experience in:
Cloud Engineering
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Platform Engineering
Cloud Operations
FinOps Engineering
Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers across:
Compute
Storage
Databases
Networking
Hands-on programming experience with
Python
Experience with:
AWS Lambda
CloudFormation
AWS database services
CI/CD pipelines
Strong analytical and reporting skills, including:
SQL
Advanced Excel
Cost modeling and analysis
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QuickSight
Working knowledge of GitHub and version control practices
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
FinOps Certified Practitioner or Analyst certification
Experience with cloud cost management tools, including:
AWS Cost Explorer
AWS CUR
AWS Budgets
Azure Cost Management
GCP Billing
Cloudability, Flexera, or Finout
Experience building internal tools and dashboards using Python and React
Understanding of Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and cloud commitment strategies
Experience with observability platforms such as:
CloudWatch
Datadog
Prometheus
Grafana
Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments
Familiarity with automated remediation frameworks
